Need To Get Back In Shape After Pregnancy? It’s Not as Hard as You Think

By Joanna | Sep 13, 2008

You should wait until your six week checkup to start exercising again. It’s a recovery period for you and a bonding period with your baby, which means that you don’t want to jeopardize it by working too hard or spending too much time away from your little one.

Once you’re cleared by your doctor, you should start out easy with simple things like stretching and walking. Even walking for one hour, four to five times a week, will help you to burn a lot of calories that you might otherwise just have stored as fat. There are also a lot of exercises that you can do with your baby, and this promotes bonding as well as good health.

Even if you can’t work out for the full 30 minutes that’s recommended, three ten-minute sessions can give you the same benefit. You’ll get back in shape quickly and easily, and you won’t lose out on trying to spend time with your baby.
